95% of my friends have left NYC this weekend to visit Fagat (they all miraculously were able to go "on business" whatever that means). So, as usual, I'm slighly alone this weekend (which isn't to say I didn't meet New Fagat for a Hoegaarden last night and which isn't also to say that 95% of his friends have left as well). Fortunately, the 5% of my friends who are here are having a Canadian Thanksgiving (the host, obvi, is from Canada.) I'm in charge of *non*-alcoholic drinks (again, whatever that means). Here's the thing: I do
n't really understand the concept of Thanksgiving. Who am I thanking? I mean, in theory I have a lot to be thankful for, but I mean, I don't see how stuffiny my face and getting wasted actually shows any sort of thankfulness at all. In fact, it's the opposite: it's like saying I'm so lucky and happy that not only am I not going to show how thankful I am by giving back, but instead I'm going to feast away while that homeless man in the street chews on Bazooka Joe wrappers. Mostly I'm just thankful that I don't have to dress up like a cowgirl and attend Miss Adams Morgan.
Meanwhile, I've been invited to the Gs for brunch tomorrow. I thought I'd been just a "comma" in Washington, D.C., but apparently I might be making it all the way to a -- hard-stop -- "semi-colon."
Smooches until next Saturday, unless FHC really kicks me out before then.
Didn't we say no "obvi" around here ? you ungrateful little b**ch.

Is that LL commenting or FHC?
Someone has to clean up this commenting system.

The best part of the ¨business¨ that is going on here is that Bates G. has to make a speech and moderate a debate at her ¨conference.¨
Obviously, we are doing our best to keep her extremely drunk until (and through) that very moment.
